Why?
GardTech Ltd recognises the importance of looking after your trees, we work closely with our customers to establish the best outcome for them and their tree. Where tree removal may be required, consideration for re-planting to maintain a healthy environmental balance is as much of a priority. We are also happy to complete any planning applications should your Tree be in a conservation area or be subject to a TPO.
If you suspect your tree is diseased, dead or dying, or believe it poses a safety risk due to damaged branches, contact us for a full consultation. We provide our services both domestically and commercially.
We have built the skills and knowledge to safely remove any tree so that you can use land in other ways, whether it be a path, driveway, garden or park. We specialise in both directional felling and sectional dismantling. Sectional dismantle technique is often used for trees in most situations especially domestic gardens. This is in most cases requires our team to gain access into the crown or your tree using ropes and sometimes MEWP. We use tailored equipment such as roping, rigging systems and mobile elevated platforms and chippers. All our operators are suitably qualified with industry-recognised qualifications from City and guilds / Lantra.

Straight Felling
The straight felling of trees is the removal of a tree as a single unit. Straight felling can only be done in certain situations that pose no risk of damage to any nearby properties or people. Only when all risks have been taken into account, such as telephone and power cables not crossing through and are clear of the tree, the tree has a natural lean towards the felling direction or is standing straight and balanced, at least 5m clearance from buildings or any other structure that may be damaged, then the tree can be felled from ground level.
Section Tree Felling
Gardtech offer section felling as an alternative when a tree has to be taken down from an awkward location, with multiple hazards in the near vicinity This means that the tree needs to be removed in sections using advanced rigging techniques.
Once the canopy is cleared, the remainder of the tree will either be cut into small sections and thrown to the ground, or lowered from its self using pulleys.
Pollarding
Pollarding is a technique used by tree surgeons for a number of reasons, if the tree has significant die back in the canopy and is deteriorating rapidly, pollarding would be a good option. To pollard a tree means to remove the entire crown of the tree to the main fork of the trunk, in the case of an unhealthy tree, this would give the tree a second fighting chance as that now the tree has no high canopy to pump water and nutrients into, the roots are not working as hard and the tree is significantly less stressed.
Stump Grinding
Stump removal involves complete removal of the stump and any lateral roots belonging to the tree. This is achieved either using hand tools or a machine (stump grinder).
Stump grinding involves the removal of stump to a specified depth, generally, between 150mm and 300mm and is done with a specialist piece of equipment called a stump grinder, we would recommend this for all large stumps, as doing it by hand can be exhausting and cause injury. Upon completion of stump removal, the remaining hole will be back-filled with soil or grinding waste to leave a level minimal trace of the work.
Crown Reductions, Shaping, Pruning & Thinning
Each tree will be individually considered in relation to the shape, size, character, condition, site and species of tree. All operations will be completed leaving each tree in an acceptable, well-balanced and safe condition. Each branch will be removed using the ABC cut method where risk of tearing is reduced.
All final cuts will be made at the branch collar, with the branch collar remaining intact. Under no circumstances will any flush cuts be made. All cuts will be made to the standards set out in the guidelines BS3998.
All large limbs will be lowered by ropes and slings to avoid damage to the tree and its surroundings. We will ensure that all sections fall to the ground in a controlled manner. Dead, diseased or damaged branches will be pruned back to the corresponding branch collar. In the case of crossed rubbing branches, the branches will be assessed, pruned or removed appropriately, whilst ensuring that a reasonable overall shape is maintained
